Blogging live here from the MPWCC Corgi Specialty Show. We’ve selected all the class winners and the Judge (Kandy Boll of Corgard Kennels) is selecting the Best Junior and Best Puppy. Then there will be a live Freestyle demonstration (which promises to be a real tear-jerker) and then selection of Best In Sweepstakes.
Someone asked how much money do the winners get? Not much. It just about covers the entry fees, not a lot more than that. What matters to the exhibitors is the prestige of the win — and the chance for their hopeful Corgis to get more experience in the ring.
For those who care about such details. . . Best Puppy went to Wynfox Holiday Parade, a 6-9 month old puppy bitch (nope, that’s not a cuss word, it’s what dog folks call their female dogs.) Best Junior went to Festiniog Arbor Rush Hour, a 15-18 month old puppy dog.
Next up, the Freestyle performance. Dancing with dogs. I don’t know if anyone will be taping this — but they should! Stay tuned. . . there is a story on the way.
