Live Blogging From the Dog Show

It’s probably no secret that I love animals.  But what some of you may not know is that I have a special spot in my heart for the Pembroke Welsh Corgi.  For the past 40 years I’ve lived with one or more — and don’t imagine how I ever managed without one before that.

There are going to be some awesome photos later on (once we get them processed after the show) but for now you’ll have to make do with my descriptions of some of the events.

The venue is the annual Specialty show for our regional club.  It’s the highlight of the year for Pem fanciers and lots of fun for both the people and the Corgis.

Right now as I type, I have my furry little girl (Betony) at my feet (waiting to see if there wil be another cookie anytime within her lifetime) and a friend’s puppy sleeping in a crate an arms’ length away.

Someone went for sandwiches as the obedience trials are just about over.   Susan Strickland just won high in trial (for the 3rd year in a row, I believe) and goes home with a pawful (errrr, handful. . . ) of ribbons and trophies.

Next up will be Sweepstakes (a conformation event that also gives winners some cash prizes in addition to ribbons and trophies.

The (currently sleeping) puppy will throw you into immediate Cute Overload when you see her photo;  meanwhile imagine an extremely intelligent, playful, attentive person in a foot-long furry body with big ears and penetrating but sweet eyes, and that would be “Bizzy” (who really could NOT have any other name but that.)

Oooops.  Gotta go for now.  Betony (my Pem) just dived into my purse to find treats.  Back soon.  After lunch.  But no treats for Ms. B (we have to keep her waistline trim.)
