Our venerable old Corgi turned twelve last week. And that’s a big deal, because in the past 18 months we had a couple of close calls. This birthday is something to celebrate!
Here she is waiting (not too patiently. . . ) for permission to have her special celebration treat of some yogurt, chicken-and-rice sticks, a banana slice, and a small bit of cheese. We had to make her wait until we took the photo or else there’d be nothing left to hold the candle up for the picture!
Our dignified old gal has been through an eye removal, three stints in intensive care:
- for a sudden mysterious staph infection that required overnight surgery
- aspiration pneumonia
- removal of a small malignant abdominal tumor (follower by another round of aspiration pneumonia)
When your dog has a birthday after ordeals like that, it is something to celebrate. I don’t know what we would have done without the Emergency Trauma Solution (ETS) from Perelandra — for her AND for us 🙂
She pulled through all of the surgeries and hospitalizations, thankfully, but it’s been quite the saga. On her 12th birthday we sang songs, gave her some special treats, a new toy, and lots of hugs. As rough as it’s been, she is quite the mellow Corgi, unless you ring the doorbell — and then it’s Bark City. Just like usual 🙂
Those are happy sounds these days.
I’ll be back soon with some new content; I have a LOT of blogging to do before the 30 Day Blog Challenge is up!
